Usable by everyone in the house.
How ExpnSplit is built to work for everyone, and how to tell us when it doesn’t.

What we aim for
- ExpnSplit aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard Australian services are expected to follow.
What’s built in
- Every input has a label, and every button and link is large enough to tap easily (at least 44 by 44 pixels).
- It works with a keyboard and with screen readers such as VoiceOver and TalkBack. Charts have a readout and a table you can read instead.
- Light, dark or your device’s setting; text keeps enough contrast in each.
- Plain words throughout, and money is never shown by colour alone: “You owe” and “You’re owed” sit beside every balance.
Known limits
- On iPhone, adding ExpnSplit to the Home Screen has to be done from Safari’s Share menu; we show how, but can’t do it for you.
- Receipt photos are pictures of paper receipts, so their text isn’t readable by screen readers. The expense’s amount and description always are.
Something not working for you?
- Ask the person who sent you your invite. They run ExpnSplit and will reply within 5 business days. Tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way, and we’ll fix it or find another way.
