Split the bills.
Keep the peace.

Rent, power, internet and the grocery run, split to the cent. Snap the receipt, see who owes whom, and settle up with PayID in your own banking app. No spreadsheets. No awkward texts.

Settling up

Ten IOUs. Three payments.

Five people, a month of shared costs, and everyone owes everyone a bit. ExpnSplit nets it all out and suggests the shortest list of payments that squares the house. Never more than one fewer than the number of people.

Ten debts between five housemates are replaced by three payments: Josh pays you $62.00, Priya pays you $22.50 and Mia pays Josh $48.75.$62.00$22.50$48.75YouMJPS

Built for shared houses

Everything the group chat can’t do.

Rent and bills that repeat

Set up rent, power and internet once. When a bill is due, everyone sees their share and gets a reminder. Tap “I paid this” and it’s split.

Receipts in one tap

Take the photo while you add the expense. It stays with it, so nobody has to ask what something cost.

Settle up with PayID

See who to pay, how much and their PayID. Pay in your own banking app. No money ever moves through ExpnSplit.

Private where it should be

Split a dinner with one housemate and the rest of the house doesn’t see it. An expense is visible only to the people in it.

The fewest transfers

A month of messy IOUs becomes a short list of payments. Record one, and it counts once the other person confirms it arrived.

Lives on your phone

Add it to your Home Screen and it opens like an app, full screen, with its own icon. Fingerprint or face sign-in once you’re set up. No app store, nothing to download.

The trial

Four weeks. Then you decide.

ExpnSplit is invite only while we find out if it’s worth building further. Your honest answer, including “no”, is the whole point.

  1. Day 1Your household starts. Invite everyone, add the rent.
  2. Day 22We ask: would you pay for Plus? A pledge, not a charge.
  3. Day 28You move to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted.

Questions

Fair questions.

Is it free?

For small households, yes. Every new household gets 4 weeks with everything included, no card. After that it’s on the Free plan: 3 people, 50 expenses a month, 3 recurring bills, and no new receipt photos. Bigger households can choose Plus, A$5 a month for the whole house, once card payments open. See Pricing.

What happens after the 4 weeks?

Your household moves to the Free plan and carries on. Nothing is deleted and nobody is removed: if you’re over a Free limit, only adding more of that stops.

Does money go through ExpnSplit?

No. ExpnSplit shows who owes whom and the PayID to pay. You pay in your own banking app, then tap “I’ve paid”, and the other person confirms it arrived.

Who can see my expenses?

Only the people in each expense: who paid, who added it, and who shares it. Everyone in the household sees the overall balances, never the details of an expense they’re not part of.

Is there an app to download?

No app store needed. On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, Chrome offers to install it. It then opens like any other app.

I don’t have an invite. Can I join?

If someone you live with already uses ExpnSplit, ask them for the household’s join code. To start a new household for now, you need an invite from the person who told you about ExpnSplit.
